Saint Demetrius

In Arvanitochori, a church that began construction in 1864 and was completed half a century later — with one of the tallest bell towers on the island.

The construction of the church of Agios Dimitrios in Arvanitochori began in 1864 and was completed in the early 20th century. It stands out for its towering bell tower, visible from much of the village. It is celebrated on October 26 with a festival.

The village of chapels

Agios Dimitrios is one of the two most important churches of Arvanitochori, along with the Three Hierarchs. The village, built at the foot of the mountains three kilometers from Fry, is famous for its numerous chapels and for the «Maroukla» square. In the same neighborhood is also the Traditional Aletourgeio of the island.
