Small producers

In addition to the shops, Kasos is also home to individual honey producers — with the local thyme honey standing out for its strong flavour — as well as makers of traditional aniseed, cumin and sesame cookies. These are, in most cases, small, family-run operations rather than organised shops: the best strategy for anyone visiting the island is to ask directly in the villages — a habit that, moreover, fits well with the more personal, hospitable character of Kasos.
