In the shadow of Kasos airport, a pebble and sand beach receives the waves of the Aegean more intensely than elsewhere on the island — a picture of strength and serenity at the same time.
In the northern part of Kasos, near the airport, lies Katarti Beach, with a terrain that combines pebbles and sand. Its geographical position leaves it more exposed to the waves than other beaches on the island, giving it a more dynamic, lively character — its waters, however, remain remarkably clear and crystal clear.
The alternation of rugged terrain—with some natural stone slabs near the water—gives the beach a wilder, more natural aesthetic, different from the smoother sandy beaches of the island. It is a beach that captures well the general character of northern Kasos: open to the sea, without natural shelters, but with its own, more rugged beauty.
